Earn 1 CEU in CORE (482 & 487). This module has 4 sections. Each section presents information on recognition of a group of beneficial insects in the landscape. Many times, these insects are confused with pests; however, these are biological controls for pests. You should try to protect them from pesticides. You can print out the notes pages so the information is available for you to study. Each section has a lecture followed by questions. Upon satisfactory completion of the module (>75%) you will receive a form for 1 CEU to print and return to FDACS at the time of pesticide license renewal.

• Beneficial Insects 1 - lady beetles (adults and larvae), mantids, green lacewings (adults and larvae), predaceous stink bugs, and robber flies.
• Beneficial Insects 2 - assassin bugs (adults and nymphs), syrphid flies (adults and larvae), lynx spiders, jumping spiders, ground beetles, big-eyed bugs, braconid wasps, and parasitized aphids.
• Beneficial Insects 3 - brown lacewing (adults and larvae), ambush bugs, dragonflies, damselflies, paper wasps, earwigs, long-legged flies, and predaceous mites.
• Beneficial Insects 4 - damsel bugs, minute pirate bug, tiger beetles, tachinid fly (adult and eggs), parasitic nematodes, entomopathogenic fungi (on caterpillar, aphid and mole cricket), and entomopathogenic viruses.
